ORLC Men's Report (Week 1) - Thiel Opens the Season 4-0

GREENWOOD, IN - The Thiel College men's lacrosse team opened the 2017 season with a 4-0 overall record with wins over Mount Union, La Roche, Houghton, and Muskingum.

The Tomcats goalkeeping duo contibuted 37 saves, and only allowed 21 goals for a 5.25 goals against average.

Junior Kyle Reib (Erie, Pa. / McDowell) and senior Mike Bryant (Cleveland, Ohio / Cleveland Heights) both lead the team with 12 goals apiece. Junior Jared Saffer (Pittsburgh, Pa. / North Hills) has tallied 11 goals, seven assists, and 18 points in the four games this season for the Tomcats.

Thiel (4-0, 0-0 ORLC) will return to action on Wednesday at Alfred St. at 5 p.m. 

In other action...

The Bethany College (2-1, 0-0 ORLC) men's lacrosse team earned wins over Heidelberg and La Roche during the opening portion of the schedule.  Senior midfielder Tyler Peck (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Shaler) leads the team currently with seven total goals in the first three games of the season.  Bison goalkeeper Sean Rhodes (Indiana, Pa. / Indiana) recorded 13 saves and scooped up eight groundballs in the Heidelberg double overtime victory. 

Westminster (1-1, 0-0 ORLC) earned a split to open their season. The Titans defeated Houghton at home 17-7 and fell to Hood 18-5. The Titans received goals from five different players in the nonconference Houghton victory.
